GSA chief resigns over lavish Vegas conference

The chief of the General Services Administration is resigning and two of her top deputies have been fired amid reports of excessive spending at a training conference at a luxury hotel that featured a mindreader, a clown and a comedian.
GSA Administrator Martha Johnson submitted her resignation to the White House on Monday. Public Buildings Service chief Robert A. Peck and Johnson’s top adviser, Stephen Leeds, were forced out Monday, White House officials said. Four GSA employees who organized the four-day conference have been placed on adminstrative leave pending further action.

JetBlue Suspends Captain Who Disrupted Flight

JetBlue Airways Corp. suspended a pilot whose erratic actions forced the unscheduled landing of a New York-to-Las Vegas flight Tuesday, as executives from the airline said there was nothing in the pilot’s record to indicate he was headed for such a breakdown.
Clayton Osbon, the captain of JetBlue Flight 191 who was restrained by passengers after his bizarre behavior prompted his co-pilot to lock him out of the cockpit, has been taken off flight duty but is still on salary pending the outcome of an investigation, Alison Steinberg, a JetBlue spokeswoman said Wednesday.
