Traffic stop near Vegas leads to $16M cocaine bust
A traffic stop south of Las Vegas netted more than 400 pounds of cocaine with a street value of $16.4 million, Metro police announced Wednesday.
The seizure, the largest in Nevada history, happened just after midnight when authorities said a tractor-trailer was seen driving erratically in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 near the town of Jean, about 30 minutes from Las Vegas.
Lt. Laz Chavez from Metro’s narcotics unit told us the 18-wheeler wasn’t in its lane. The driver is not believed to be driving under the influence.
